A blog fog

I wonder why the words blog and fog rhyme? Hmmm, because I get lost in a fog when I think about the world of blogging? Who is reading about my family and I? Hopefully, it's no one creepy. If you are creepy, stop reading and leave please. I'm paranoid enough. Does anyone really care? Or is it just misguided rants from a stay at home mom of three little boys who doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up?

We complain about not getting things done. Not cleaning up enough, it really shouldn't be that hard to keep a clean home and put things away, right? Well, right. But we have to keep our iphones charged, so that we can hear it when we get a random email, text or God-forbid a phone call. And then there is our Facebook status that we have to change a minimum of at least 3 times a day and be sure to post on everyone else's adventures. And then there are those links to various articles, websites or blogs on their status updates and of course we need to check out those out too.

So really, there isn't much time for speaking on the phone, chatting with neighbors, visiting at soccer practices or writing a loved one a note just to say hi or cleaning my house. People have gotten so busy, they just don't say "hi" anymore.

My Grandma goes over to my Mom's house every morning to have morning coffee, work on her crossword puzzle and maybe catch a game of Rumikub if she can. She knows that computers can show her pictures of her great-grandkids (if my brothers pull them up for her) but I'm not sure she would know what an email is. I think that's great.

With all of the technological devices out there to keep in touch, truly personal relationships suffer. And hence we suffer as individuals, or at least I do. So I need to decide what my time is worth. Or maybe what is worth my time to look at or do on the internet. I think it's too big. Or at least too big for this Momma.

So here I sit typing away when I should be playing a game with my kids...whoops the iphone just buzzed, gotta go it could be an emergency!

Back to school

Well, it's back to school week! Sean starts 1st grade on Wednesday and Ian will start Kindergarten the following week. The boys will be going to the public school here in Gurnee. The 7th largest school district in the state. Try this on for size. There are 31 1st grade classes. If each class has the maximum number of children (25)then there will be 775 1st graders! This building is gigantic and holds 2nd and 3rd grades as well. I'm sure that I am more freaked out about the "hugeness" of the school than Sean is. He has seen his class room, found the gym, met the principal and loves the playground. We will get to meet his teachers tomorrow afternoon. They are doing an ice cream social at a park tomorrow afternoon. Knowing who my child will be with before I just ship him off on a bus will help.

So if 1st grade is that big, how about Kindergarten? Well they have their own building across the street from the "Elementary school 1,2,3." In Gurnee the K is only half day (stinks, I know.) So there are 17 AM classes and 17 PM classes, about 700 students also. I know that Ian wants to go to school all day and be able to use his lunch box so he will be a bit disappointed about the 1/2 days but he's going to school everyday so that should make up for it.

Ian is playing soccer, we'll find out if Sean got on a team this week. I think the boys will both be starting karate in a couple of weeks and we are looking to sign Sean up for Tiger Cubs. Jake will be going to a Moms Morning Out program for a couple of hours a week. So come the middle of September I am going to have 5 whole hours to myself! I might just take a nap, or a get a haircut!

Hmmm, lots more updates on (my Star Wars boys) but I have some downtime and I need to scrapbook!

Yes, we've moved - twice since the end of April. It sucks, I don't recommend it. But we're more settled now in Gurnee, IL.

Boys finished summer school last week and now it's time to find some things to do...

We are what

Rumor has it we are moving....GRRRR. Okay, I am very thankful that Ryan has started a new job and is feeling very positive and motivated by it and the sales meeting that he is attending this weekend. The only downside it that the job is in Northbrook, IL just north of Chicago. So we're looking at the NW communities and maybe even looking at southern WI. I thought taxes in Madison were bad - IL is insane! So I'm crazy and all over the place trying to clean things up, organize, fix what I can to get the house ready to go on the market next week. I'm tired, my brain is mush and I think I need to go to sleep.

Resolutions, renewal

I don't know if I really believe or understand New Year's resolutions. I like the idea of renewal or maybe reinvention. In the same sense as Spring or a going back to school sense. Starting over...

renew (v): to repeat so as to reaffirm; revive; to replenish; to bring into being again, reestablish; to start over

resilience (adj): the ability to recover quickly from illness, change, or misfortune. Reinvention is a never ending process. It’s the daily, on-going pursuit of personal growth and fulfillment – a path that ultimately leads to more rewards and greater responsibilities.

Do I have things I want to resolve for 2009? Certainly. What are they? I'll get back to you when I figure them out. In the meantime I am still praying for the next step of our lives to hurry up and arrive. So while we are waiting for an offer to arrive and decisions about a potential move I am also awaiting these titles at the library and hoping I will get some clarity.

Great Googily Moogily

When will it end?

Soon we hope. All good things come to those who wait right? Everything happens for a reason right? Right.

So we are keeping our spirits high as we work on figuring out what the next step in our life is. No wrong decisions, just adult ones. More importantly Santa is coming soon. Ian is, by far the most infatuated with gift giving. It is hard to convince him that Christmas is not about the gifts, but he is 4 and just wants to go to Target every day and buy things.

He wanted to get me a box of Hot Tamales for Christmas. Funny, but years ago I would have laughed. Now, it it is kind of thing that means more if it is something he WANTS to get me, boy how we change!

We will update some more b-ball and images soon so you can keep up!

Stay tuned.

So it goes

we have been plenty busy, as we all are these days. Tash and Ryan are wrapping up our fall race trainging (NOTE we still continue to fundraise for LLS, see links on right).

Kids are doing great, all 3 are going through different phases now, it is tough, but as always they make it better when they are cute. funny how they can scream for 2 hours and defy you, then a simple hug and smile makes it all go away.

FYI - ryan is damn near seeking face book rehab and my wife shows more control. I need to see if we can link this or something, who knows

So, if you want more detail, check facebook! OR call us!!!

Signed Ryan and Tash.

Ironday

It's Ironman day in Madison. Ry is volunteering, so is Trish and Chelsea. Kids and I got to see the bike leaders early but it's now nap time. Hopefully we'll head down to the "city" later and see the top finishers...
